1:00-1:45pm: Know Your water, Love your Water – Bruce Ling, GRWAMC

Bruce Ling is the President of The Grand River Watershed Arts & Music Council. Bruce will discuss ways people can all learn to improve local watersheds. This is a critical topic in Michigan and vital to a healthy future. Come learn how you can be part of the solution!

2:00-2:45pm: Shadow Puppets – Part 1 of 2– Patrick Elkins

The workshops will provide attendees with the opportunity to learn how to create shadow puppets and perform their own plays. Interested puppeteers of all ages are encouraged to attend. We will be using X-acto knives, poster board, scissors, glue, wire, and dowel rods to make 2-dimensional creatures that come to life with light! 

3:00-3:45pm: Drumming Essentials– Scotty Pellegrom

Scotty Pellegrom is one of the most active instructors/performers in Michigan’s music scene. Scotty’s ability to connect with students and convey techniques in a simple manner is truly unique. This workshop will cover essential techniques and practice tips to take your drumming to new heights. Come learn from a master of the trade and be part of the music at Cowpie.

4:00-4:45pm: Hula Hooping is for Everyone! – Audria

Let’s get moving! This one is for the whole family. Kids- bring your parents and enjoy a little activity between all the wonderful music this weekend.

5:00-5:45pm: Intro to Mandolin – Don Julin

Author of Mandolin for Dummies, Don Julin travels the country as a mandolinist and has decades of experience as an instructor and educator. Learn improvisational techniques and approaches to simple folk/bluegrass tunes that have been part of the mandolin’s journey into today’s traditional music repertoire.


6:00-7:00pm: Breaking Down Beer By Taste & Smell - ONE WELL

An interactive beer experience that will excite your senses! Trevor Klimek & the Brewers at ONE WELL have something spectacular to share with you! Come learn what makes craft beer so exciting at workshops focusing on a kaleidoscope of brewing ingredients and flavor profiles. Explore the 4 building blocks of beer: HOPS, MALT, WATER,& YEAST. Hold the hops and smell their aroma. Taste the malt and discover the difference between Ale and Logger yeasts. To wrap it up we will taste the final product!

11:00-11:45am: Intro to the Digeridoo- Mike Windstruck

This entry-level workshop is an introduction to one of the oldest instruments and forms of communication on the planet. Come explore the mystical sounds of the Digeridoo!

12:00-12:45pm: Hula Hooping is for Everyone! - Audacious Hoops

Let’s get moving! This one is for the whole family. Kids- bring your parents and enjoy a little activity between all the wonderful music this weekend.

1:00-1:45pm: Packing a Waste-Free Lunch – Katelyn Nettler, Kent County Public Works

Leftover food scraps and packaging produce a lot of waste! Conduct a waste audit and learn how to consume a waste-free lunch.

2:00-2:45pm: Painting a “Thank You” – Joe Sherry

Use art to express our gratitude toward the Cowpie Festival organizers and volunteers for all the hard work and love. This family-friendly painting workshop will be our opportunity to create something that expresses our gratitude for being on this farm. It’s a collective “thank you” that we’ll leave behind for the festival team. Come be part of the magic!

3:00-3:45pm: Good Things Brewing – One Well Brewing Co.

The Brewers of ONE WELL from Kalamazoo have something spectacular to share with you! Come learn what makes craft beer so exciting at a workshop focused on the kaleidoscope of brewing ingredients and flavor profiles! See you there!

4:00-4:45pm: Music for the Soul – John Nowak

Explore the healing power of music, getting in touch with your inner voice and sharing in an artful communication that has brought people together for thousands of years. This workshop is meant to inspire and provide a little direction for your own musical exploration, regardless of your instrument.

5:00-5:45pm: World Percussion – Josh Dunnigan

Come sing! Come dance! Come play! I'll bring the drums, you bring your hands and smiles as we enjoy rhythms from the Caribbean and South America.

6:00-6:45pm: Old-Time Jam! – The Hoptown Rounders

Grab your instrument and come on down for some rip-roaring old-time music led by the Hoptown Rounders! This jam session is all about circling up, sharing stories, tunes, and connecting with each other. Come enjoy the creative community. Spirited music with some of Michigan’s finest players. 

7:00-7:45pm: Shadow Puppets – Part 2 – Patrick Elkins

The workshops will be a continuation of Friday’s workshop with the goal of putting a real puppet show together from scratch! This will be a family-friendly workshop and all are encouraged to participate!
